Of the many Bigfoot sightings compiled on the Internet, the number in the Ocala National Forest is striking. If you look into what kind of territory the reports suggest the creature prefers, maybe that’s no surprise.

Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, seems to appear where wilderness and civilization meet, usually areas with plenty of water and heavy woods. Another thing many sighting sites have in common: brushy sloping foothills where blackberries flourish. Who can blame Sasquatch for loving blackberries?

Interest in Bigfoot is as high as ever. An enterprise called the Sasquatch Genome Project recently made a splash by claiming it had DNA analysis proving Bigfoot’s existence.

Ocala National Forest Bigfoot tales go back decades, maybe even centuries: furry bipedal figures striding across roads or meadows, unexplained vaguely human- or ape-like screams echoing through forests, giant footprints left in mud or sand.

For the most adventurous of travelers, Ocala Bigfoot Tours takes Squatchers on tours from three hours to multi day tours including camping right in the heart of Bigfoot country in the Ocala National Forest in Florida. The Bigfoot figure is common to the folklore of most Native American tribes. Native American Bigfoot legends usually describe the creatures as around 7-12 feet tall, very strong, hairy, uncivilized, and often foul-smelling, usually living in the woods and often foraging at night. Native American Bigfoot creatures are almost always said to be unable to speak human languages, using whistles, grunts, and gestures to communicate with each other. In some stories, male Bigfeet are said to be able to mate with human women. In some Native stories, Bigfoot may have minor supernatural powers-- the ability to turn invisible, for example-- but they are always considered physical creatures of the forest, not spirits or ghosts.

In 1967 Roger Patterson and Bob Gimlin, announced they'd captured Bigfoot on film. They filmed a few seconds of a creature  moving across a clearing near Bluff Creek in Northern California. While the film is not perfectly clear, But there is no mistaking the creature in the film for a common animal.

The first recorded sighting of a Bigfoot by a white man apparently came in 1811 near what now is the town of Jasper, Alberta Canada. A trader named David Thompson found some strange massive footprints, that measured fourteen inches long and eight inches wide, with four toes in the snow.

Love Changes Everything

Help us make a difference

We are working with The Ronald McDonald House of North central Florida showing the difference love can make when many hearts beat together as one. Proceeds from Ocala Bigfoot Tours go to benefit the house. we're using Bigfoot to create change and difference in the lives needing it the most and trying to put a smile back on a face with nothing to smile about. Through your support we will provide tours and camping adventures to the families staying at the house at no charge creating memories and smiles that will last forever.  We are looking for sponsors and support to continue to create wonderful memories and get these family's minds off all they are going through.
